This is not an exact replica of the Springfield rifle, but rather a fairly inexpensive copy most often used by drum and bugle corps or marching bands. The stock is brown wood and the barrel and action are chromed. These work fine for a troop of WWI or WWII soldiers. We rent them most frequently to productions of Ragtime, South Pacific, or Shakespeare history plays set in the early 20th century. Since they're not quite as accurate as our finer replica rifles, we rent them for less!
